If taking PT takes roughly the same amount of time assuming everything goes well, then it certainly seems like the way to go. However ever since the DOT lane closure on the BQE overpass, that 30-45 minutes has turned into a solid 1hr 20 minutes of inching along. For the handful of times I did take public transit, it was always 1hr 10mins to a record of 2hr 30mins left entirely up to chance, a significant enough difference that I felt driving is justified. For the 4 years I've been doing this commute it was always about a 30-45min drive. My commute is New Dorp, Staten Island to East Williamsburg. I thought, maybe I should be taking the bus+subway. I've engaged in many of those debates, defending the reason I drive to work, but it's not like I don't self-reflect.

There has been a lot of heated debate in this sub as of late in regards to car use in "transit deserts", and a lot of people have the opinion that many of us are too lazy or entitled to take buses, particularly for inter-boro trips. If you don't feel like reading the whole thing just downvote me or tell me to choke on a dick which you'll probably end up doing anyway. I just wanted to relay what a typical bus-involved outer borough commute can actually be like while it's still fresh in my mind.
